Biographical Info

David J. Moore, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego; an investigator at the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Program; and a licensed clinical psychologist. In recognition of his research, mentoring, and service efforts for individuals living with HIV/AIDS, the American Psychological Association (APA) awarded him with the 2013 Psychology and AIDS Emerging Leader Award.
Dr. Moore is interested in the use of technology in the context of HIV treatment and prevention. His research has been funded by NIMH, NIDA, NIA and the California HIV/AIDS Research Program, and he has over 90 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Moore developed a personalized text messaging intervention to improve antiretroviral medication adherence for both HIV treatment and prevention. He has a particular interest in the content, delivery schedule, interface, and efficacy of mHealth interventions as well as the interface between mHealth and traditional healthcare interventions.
