Matthew Trowbridge is a physician, public health researcher, and associate professor at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Dr. Trowbridge’s academic research focuses on the impact of architecture, urban design, and transportation planning on public health issues including childhood obesity, traffic injury, and pre-hospital emergency care. 

Dr. Trowbridge currently serves as a Senior Research Fellow at the U.S Green Building Council leading a partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation focused on improving consideration of public health outcomes within the real estate industry. Patti Brennan, RN, PhD, is the Lillian L. Moehlman Bascom Professor, School of Nursing and College of Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, Wisconsin. Following seven years of clinical practice in critical care nursing and psychiatric nursing, Dr. Brennan held several academic positions. She developed the ComputerLink, an electronic network designed to reduce isolation and improve self-care among home care patients and directed HeartCare, a WWW-based tailored information and communication service that helped home-dwelling cardiac patients recover faster, and with fewer symptoms. Dr. Brennan directed Project HealthDesign, a RWJ- funded initiative designed to stimulate the next generation of personal health records. She also conducts external evaluations of novel HIT architectures, such health information exchanges and SMART, an “apps” approach to existing electronic health records (EHRs) and data repositories. Brennan leads the Living Environments Laboratory at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery, which includes a 6-sided virtual reality CAVE that her group uses to re-create visually every environment on earth, and develop new ways for effective visualization of high dimensional data. Supported by AHRQ, her group explores the impact of household contexts on personal health information management. She is fellow of both the American Academy of Nursing (1991) and the American College of Medical Informatics (1993). Dr. Brennan was elected to the Institute of Medicine in 2002, and in 2009 became an elected member of the New York Academy of Medicine.

Veinot has held or co-held grants from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Veterans Affairs, Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research, Institute of Museum and Library Services, Canadian Institutes for Health Research, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research and Ontario HIV Treatment Network.
Veinot served as a member of the Biomedical Library and Informatics Review Committee (BLIRC) at the National Library of Medicine and on the Scientific Program Committee of the 2014 AMIA Annual Symposium.
Prior to completing her PhD, Veinot had more than ten years of professional experience in health-related nonprofit organizations. In recognition of her nonprofit leadership, Veinot garnered several awards, including being profiled in Who’s Who of Canadian Women.

Wendy A. Kellogg is a founder of the field of social computing, forming the first research group focusing on Social Computing in 1998: the Social Computing Group at IBM’s T. J. Watson Research Center. Topics addressed by the group included social translucence (a conceptual framework pioneered by Erickson and Kellogg), computer-mediated communication, and social computing for green IT and the next billion users. Kellogg holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology and authors and edits publications in the fields of HCI and CSCW. She serves on the editorial board of ACM’s Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction (ToCHI) in addition to chairing key conferences and technical programs (CHI, DIS, CSCW). Wendy has served on the National Academy of Science’s Computer Science and Telecommunications Board (CSTB). She was named ACM Fellow in 2002 for contributions to social computing and human-computer interaction, and elected to the CHI Academy and IBM Academy in 2008. Wendy is currently an Emeritus Research Staff Member at IBM Research.
